    School busses
A school bus can be a lovely thing. I came up the stairs, grabbed the coffee pot and heard the first school bus rumble by. Today is picking up osap, and meeting the faculty at the university. Tomorrow...books. translation for all of that....standing in lines. Oh well I will be armed with a coffee carafe and a good book, so I am set.

Its the most wonderful time of the year...
School is on the way, the leaves are starting to turn and fall, and the nights are getting colder. I have to say that fall has to be one of my favorite seasons. About the only thing that winter has going for it is Christmas. Spring is too wet. I cant sleep all summer because it is too damn hot to sleep and the kids are all wanting to go in 5 million different directions. At this point of the summer though i am getting a hell of a lot of I AM BORED! coming out of them.

3/4 of the school supplies are bought, just what is necessary for the first few days. I have my book list for school, all 650.00 worth (before taxes of course). Now for the binders and backpacks and at least 2 pairs of pants for my growing kids. Shaun is taller than me by 3 inches, and that is just from the summer. Shannon and Carolyn can almost look me in the eye.

I am trying to think of fast and easy, portable lunches for the kids and I, so if anyone has any good ideas speak up! I am also looking for a recipe for a breakfast shake. I have some yummy blueberries in the freezer from the summer, just begging to be eaten.

The relationship is going well, we have had our first major hurdle as a couple, and it wasnt a fight. Leo's Aunt Liz, had a major heart attack on the 15th and passed away on the 17th. The funeral was on the 22nd. The last 2 weeks have been a blur of waiting and crying and remembering but I think we will all make it through, one day at a time.

I am spending the next week preparing the house, doing my spring cleaning...in the fall of course, to hell with spring cleaning in the spring. I always have been a little backwards. Time to put away the tents and shift things around so I can easily access the winter stuff. I just love having such a small storage space. K, off to clean things...yeah for school!

Your Theme Song is Back in Black by AC/DC

"Back in black, I hit the sack,
I've been too long, I'm glad to be back"

Things sometimes get really crazy for you, and sometimes you have to get away from all the chaos.
But each time you stage your comeback, it's even better than the last!

    busy busy busy
I just realized how long it has been. The summer is just flying by now. I have all my classes chosen for the year. I am taking Greek History, History, Geography, Geomorphology, and English. I also have my first class towards my teaching degree in the winter semester.
The kids are getting huge. Shaun is 14 now and is about 4 inches taller than me. Carolyn is slowly but surely turning into a teenager (12 going on 16), and Shannon is having a blast with her best friend finally back from B.C.
I have been working at the Superstore in the mornings for the past 3-4 weeks. I work 4 days a week from 6am- noon. It seems to work, the kids dont get up till 1030-11 anyway so there is very little time for them to fight with each other. I was telling the kids how working there is like having christmas every day because the boxes are marked with things like...mattel toys and i dont know if there are barbies or hotwheels in the box so i have to open it and find out.
Leo and I are still together and things are going great.

    Bou's Cross Country adventures
I spoke to Bou at 8:30 this evening. She is in Indian Head and is doing well, other than being sooo very tired. There were no rude trucks on the Highway today and other than a little worry about being at 1/4 tank and not having any open gas stations(yeah canada day) but they were saved by a little sign that said Indian Head 18. The plan is to head to calgary tomorrow. Anyhow thats it for me and I will update again tomorrow.

    graduation
Well, this is take 2. I didnt notice that i was not logged in. LoL. Graduation is in a few hours. Then it is run home to load the car for Thatsa. The officer problem has rectified itself, so we are ok. Not sure how many out of towners we will get, but it has almost always been a show up event. Here's hoping for visiters from out of town. Kids are all lookin forward to the event. Shaun is mostly worried about whether or not we are bringing the dog and if he can fish (yes to both). Shannon's best friend broke her clavicle last monday and she is still coming camping this weekend. Hopefully the dampness and chill will not effect her too badly. I should get ready for the grad ceremony though. if anyone wants pictures, i will e-mail them to you. here we go....wheeeee

    Graduation
Here we are, it is not even 6am. I am "officially" graduating in a few hours. The ceremony is at 9am and runs for a few hours. After that it is run home, change and pack the car for Thatsa. Looks like we have the officer we need, so that is a huge relief. Kids are all excited about the coming event and are constantly pestering me about when we are leaving. Shaun is just worried about being able to fish. (yes) Shaun has a job delivering papers in the neighbourhood, and is looking forward to buying a $500 bike. The girls are both good, taking care of Shannon's best friend Joey who broke her clavicle this last monday, but the trooper in her(Joey) is still insisting that she camp this weekend. K, I should go jump in a shower and get pretty for grad, If anyone wants pictures let me know and I will e-mail them to you.

    Well This is it Folks
It is weird to hear it out in the open at a meeting. It looks like this will be the last Thatsa. The shire will more than likely be folding after our event. I keep on telling myself that we can still play at kingdom level. We only really have one event a year right? It still is depressing. We are having a meeting at the event to discuss final plans for closing up the group. We are going to ask for our stuff to be put in trust for us for a year, but who knows what will happen. Plans are all finalized for the event other than the fact that our KM is missing in action, so maybe no fighting? who knows. So if anyone out there can make it to our last party, come up and have a few drinks with us and have some fun. K, off to do housework...i need a hug.

    srike and post strike
Well. The teachers were out for 3 weeks and theoretically I should have had a little time without the kids and I should be rested. NOT. Shannon was sick for a week, then march break, then it was housework and fighting with the kids to get them back into a school routine. The strike went to arbitration so we wont know what that will do until that is done, but apparently it wont affect us any more. The semester has been extended by one week, as we only technically missed 2 weeks of classes, so it will be tight but not bad. The good thing is that I pulled everything out of my cupboards and washed them down and washed the walls. Still havent done the carpet cause when I do inevitably my silly dog goes into heat. Stupid animal.

As for Thatsa it is coming along swimmingly, we are in search for drummers for the bellydance class and for in the evening. We have a few classes and there is going to be the usual stuff. This year though there will be food available all day saturday free of charge. Seeker and Christiana are doing breakfast and then Christana and Robert are providing a lunch and the dinner is potluck. The tortoise is going to be open so we are hoping that people will bring their favorite beverage to share. I think I am bringing a bottle of Chauser's mead. And maybe some beer, but I am not sure.

Kids are getting big and my oldest is graduating from grade 8 this year so he is getting grad pictures done at some point next week. I just recieved all the report cards and they are "progressing well toward promotion"

    On Strike
Well, we are now on day 4 of the college strike up here. The main sticking point is the size of the classes and the lack of time to prepare, and mark assignments. I am in 5 classes and they range from 15 people to 46 people. The class with 45 people, is in a room that can comfortably seat 40, so if you are coming to class at 9 you have to disturb the class by dragging seats and chairs around because it is set up for 40 people. Darn frustrating especially if you are the one arriving at 9. Surprisingly, the issue of wages has already been settled. Now as long as they dont change their minds on that.

I recieved 28/33 on my portrait that I did for my art class. 84%on my test for interpersonal communications and 78% on my Abnormal Psych test, oh and 20.4 out of 20 (figure that one out) on my poetry portfolio. so i have marks in, but if the college stays out, I may still be in school in July. Blah! Everyone is telling us that the strikes dont last long, no one has ever lost their year because of a strike and all that, but if you are depending on your diploma, and marks for advanced standing recognition at the University for September you kind of NEED to graduate.

Other than the school junk, I have been EXTREMELY bored for the last few days, I spent the day yesterday taking stuff out of cupboards and washing them down. For those of you that know me I HATE cleaning. I do it cause I have to and only to the extent I need to. This is extremely unusual, but I have the overwhelming urge to do the other half of the cupboards today. Someone HELP ME!

    shiverrrrrryyyyy
Well we have finally hit the icky cold weather part of Northern Ont. It has been on average -20 to -42 Celcius here, interspersed with days of -8 and snow. Yeah. At least i know it wont last too long. So I get up in the morning put on my fuzzy moccasins and wrap a blanket around me while checking mail and stuff. My son has hooked me on Diablo II on the computer. He laughs at me though cause I talk to the characters. I have my plane ticket for Toronto I leave on Thursday, back on Monday. I hate flying! School is going well I have handed in my first charcoal drawing it is a portrait. I found this really great picture of a Hawaiian(sp) surfer in black and white and I drew that he looks like he is....well...strong? cant describe it but I was inspired. Now I have to do one of an animal and after that, a landscape. Well i suppose that I should get my day on the go...
